About

Sean Towgood is the Creator, Writer, Co-Executive Producer and Star of You’re My Hero with Executive Producers Lucy Stewart and Kevin Wallis, who also serves as Showrunner and Writer, Producers Meghan Hood and PJ Wilson, Associate Producer Colette Jeffs, Associate Producer and Writer Cassidy Civiero, and Directors Kara Harun and Greg Jeffs.

The show was inspired by actual experiences I’ve had, from the frustrating, to the weird, to the downright absurd”, says Sean Towgood. “It’s an important step forward for authentic representation on screen of people with disabilities. While disability plays a role in the show, it’s more about a young man trying to navigate his life in a world not built for him. My hope is that it will continue to open doors for people with disabilities to be more visible on the entertainment landscape and a bigger part of the cultural conversation.

You’re My Hero features a dynamite principle cast including Vas Saranga, Tina Jung, Tara Spencer-Nairn, Ali Hassan, Cassidy Civiero, George Alevizos, Joanne Latimer, Kelsey Flower, and Christian Smith, with appearances by Gwynne Phillips, Julie Nolke, Masini McDermott, Lenoxcia Sutherland, Sharjil Rasool, Amanda Richer, Maieko Sagara, and Jillian Rees-Brown.

About Longhope Media

Based in Toronto, Longhope Media was co-founded in 2020 by veteran producers Lucy Stewart and Kevin Wallis. With deep roots in the production community, Longhope Media specializes in scripted series for Canadian and international audiences.

Before forming the company, Lucy Stewart (Executive Producer) and Kevin Wallis (Showrunner/Executive Producer) worked together for 15 years, producing under the Don Ferguson Productions and Air Farce Productions banners. Their work culminated in hundreds of hours of award-winning programming that has sold around the world. The satirical sketch series Royal Canadian Air Farce ran for 16 years as a weekly TV program (CBC, Comedy Network, PBS), averaging a million viewers per episode. The 10 subsequent New Year’s Eve Specials (CBC) were among the most-watched yearly specials in Canada. Their credits also include the Canadian Screen Award-and Writers Guild-nominated sitcom Second Jen (seasons I-III, CityTV, OMNI), the coming-of-age story of two second-generation Asian Canadian women in Toronto.

Longhope Media’s first production was the new sketch comedy series ABROAD (12 episodes x 30 min) for Rogers Media/OMNI, which premiered in April 2022, and is loosely based on comedian Isabel Kanaan’s experiences of immigrating from the Philippines to Canada. The production is supported by Rogers, the CMF, the Rogers Cable Network Fund, federal and provincial tax credits. Longhope Media is currently in production of the second season of ABROAD.
